New DirectionsThe mission of New Directions is to provide quality life-changing treatment to chemically dependent adolescents and their families who are dealing with emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric problems. Since opening in 1981, the only agency of its type in Northeast Ohio, over 12,000 adolescents and their families have been treated. What began as a "demonstration program" commissioned by the Ohio Department of Health for the treatment of chemically dependent adolescents evolved into a unique, independent nonprofit agency accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, certified by Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services and a United Way partner agency.It is imperative we remain a viable option for adolescents and their families who courageously reach out to us for help and treatment. In fact, very day, approximately 80 adolescents and families receive services, form residential to outpatient treatment.
