Maingate Business Development CorporationMaingate Business Development Corporation is a charitable organization that has been serving the Maingate industrial-manufacturing neighborhood on downtown Cleveland's southeast side since 1990. It works to revitalize this historic 5 square mile district stretching from Woodland and Orange Avenues on the north down to the Cuyahoga River and Industrial Valley on the South.In its 17 years of existence, Maingate has effected enormous change toward the area's recovery and redevelopment, through infrastructure improvement, planning, security, business retention and job creation programs for its small business members, the neighborhoods and the City of Cleveland. It has put into place a host of successful public/private partnerships and interconnected activities which have advanced this once-struggling business environment – improving its sense of place, visual and safety qualities, and economic opportunities for the contiguous community. Our overarching goal is to create good jobs for Cleveland's residents. Over the past decade, the organization has helped to create over 1,800 jobs and expanded the number of businesses to the area by over 80 companies. 400 Maingate area companies now boast over 14,000 jobs, many benefiting the city's low and moderate income communities. It is estimated that over 60% of the district's employment opportunities go to the directly adjoining neighborhood's residents.
