Columbus Speech & Hearing CenterThe Columbus Speech & Hearing Center provides complete diagnostic and therapeutic services to children and adults with communication disorders, as well as vocational rehabilitation programs for adults who are hearing-impaired, deal or deaf-blind. The Center provides comprehensive and diversified services in three program areas: Speech-Language Pathology & Occupational Therapy Services, Audiology, and a Comprehensive Program for the Deaf (CPD) and The Ohio Deaf-Blind Outreach Program (ODBOP). An individualized plan is developed based on each consumer's abilities with the goal of obtaining permanent employment and living independently. We serve anyone from young infants to older adults and there are no stipulations regarding income levels. In the past we have been able to provide money towards scholarships, however we have not been able to do so recently.Cy Pres Award Donation$75,000 will be used to remodel the current board room and staff kitchen, to create three new speech therapy rooms and a large occupational therapy gym. This new space will allow us to provide 650 additional therapy units for 150 children each month. $368,000 will be used to create "The Grange Insurance Children's Fund." Earnings from this fund will be used to help support one of our pediatric programs each year, as approved by our Board of Directors. This will enable the Center to continue to provide valuable programs such as the cochlear implant program, Hear for Life (a hearing conservation program targeting middle school students), The Toddler Language Class and parent training programs like "It Takes Two to Talk" and "More Than Words."websites: http://www.columbusspeech.org/ |
