Boy Scouts of America, Greater Cleveland CouncilBoy Scouts of America, Greater Cleveland Council, founded in 1912, provides character building and educational programs for over 14,000 youth in Cuyahoga County. We serve over 6,000 youth within the City of Cleveland and East Cleveland. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.Cy Pres Award DonationOur Cy Pres gift will help fund the Learning for Life program and traditional Scouting programs (Cub Scout packs and Boy Scout troops) in the City of Cleveland.Specifically, the Learning for Life program is a co-educational, age-specific, curriculum-based program for grades K-12 designed to help schools fulfill their mission of character education. In Cleveland, it is used in grades 1-8. It provides teachers with prepared lesson plans that prepare students to successfully handle the complexities of contemporary society. The curriculum stresses the teaching of the intangible skills necessary for success in life: honesty, ongoing learning, personal achievement, working with others, decision making, and successfully coping with stress and difficult situations. website: http://councils.scouting.org/council440.aspx |
