Action for ChildrenA private non profit agency founded in 1972, Action for Children is the source for child care and early learning services in Central, Ohio. Our mission is to foster the growth of early learning environments and assure their availability to all children, to help families endow their children with quality early learning experiences, and to develop and advocate for early children education initiatives. Our free services for parents and families include referrals to licensed and legally operating child care and early learning programs information about how to identify quality programs and information about eligibility for military and state subsidy resources. Parents can speak one-on-one with a specialist during weekday business hours or visit our website any time to conduct their own e-search. Our comprehensive database includes private and publicly-funded licensed child care centers and preschools; certified or registered family child care home providers; programs participating in OhioÅfs ELI or Step Up to Quality initiatives; Head Start programs; and after school programs. Our services are designed to help parents become informed consumers of child care and early learning programs for their children.Cy Pres Award DonationAction for Children provides over 1200 professional development programs to the child caregivers/teachers in Columbus and its seven contiguous counties. There are not enough financial resources to keep up with an increased demand for quality settings, a demand that comes not just from state requirements or parents but from childrenÅfs critical needs. This gift will help Action for Children give providers the professional development courses, seminars, institutes, coaching and technical assistance they rely upon to utilize best practices in their field.
